Getting to us

From the North

  • Autobahn A5 Karlsruhe-Basel, exit 61 »Freiburg-Nord«, towards Freiburg until exit »Industriegebiet Nord«
  • At 1st traffic light drive straight ahead direction »Lörrach«
  • Turn left at the second traffic light into Robert-Bunsen-Strasse (TÜV, Großmarkt junction)
  • Wöhlerstrasse is the first street on the left

From the South

  • Autobahn A5 Basel-Karlsruhe, exit 62‚ »Freiburg Mitte« towards Freiburg
  • Take third exit »Offenburg/Industriegebiet Freiburg-Nord/Landwasser« and turn right at the fifth intersection into Robert-Bunsen-Strasse (TÜV, Großmarkt junction)
  • Wöhlerstrasse is the first street on the left

From the East (from Titisee-Neustadt, Donaueschingen)

  • Drive through Freiburg on the B31 towards Autobahn A5 Basel-Karlsruhe
  • Approx. 1.5 km after leaving the city, take the exit »Offenburg/Industriegebiet/Freiburg-Nord/Landwasser«
  • Turn right at the fifth intersection into Robert-Bunsen-Strasse (TÜV, Großmarkt junction)
  • Wöhlerstrasse is the first street on the left

IC and EC trains arrive hourly at Freiburg main station; it takes approx. 15 minutes to reach the Fraunhofer IWM by taxi or approx. 25 minutes via public transport.
Watch out! There are five Fraunhofer institutes in Freiburg!

Travel information from Deutsche Bahn

If possible, take a taxi from the main station to the institute.

Alternatively, you can take an SBG bus to Stübeweg, Industriegebiet Nord from the main bus station (ZOB), which takes around 15 minutes. You will then have a 20 minute walk to us.

Or take the number 3 light railway from Freiburg main station in the direction of Munzinger Str. Disembark at Bissierstraße (approx. 10 minutes) and change to the number 22 VAG bus in the direction of Mooswaldallee until you get to Wöhlerstraße (approx. 15 minutes). This bus does not operate all the time.
